Speaking and Listening: Loopy Tales (Gr. 1-2)

Description

In this lesson, after reading The Gingerbread Man, students will work in small groups to write a repetitive text story. This is a story with a phrase that is repeated, like a pattern, throughout the story. The project will culminate with students enacting their stories with Dash as the star of the show!

Objectives

  • Participate in a collaborative conversation with peers
  • Confirm understanding of a read aloud by asking and answering questions
  • Listen to identify repeated text in The Gingerbread Man
  • Speak audibly and present thoughts and feelings with clarity
  • Work as a group to write a new version of The Gingerbread Man story
  • Work as a group to enact their story
  • Create a set of sequenced instructions for Dash to follow using the Blockly app
  • Program a Simple Loop and Event Handler for Dash to follow
