Multiplication: Programming Super Solutions (Gr. 2-4)

Description

In this lesson, students will learn that multiplication is repeated addition. In Blockly, they will write programs using Repeat blocks and variables that will simulate multiplication using repeated addition.

Objectives

  • Recognize that multiplication is repeated addition
  • Write multiplication problems using repeated addition and multiplication
  • Solve multiplication problems by simulating repeated addition in Blockly
  • Use variables correctly in Blockly
  • Solve word problems using multiplication
  • Write original word problems that focus on multiplication
  • Identify real-life examples of multiplication

Lesson Procedure

  • Class 1: Multiplication Problems (30 minutes)
  • Class 2: More Multiplication Problems (30 minutes)
  • Class 3: Solving Word Problems (60 minutes)
