Animal Habitats and Adaptations: Dash Animals (Gr. 2-4)
Description
In this lesson, students will create an animal habitat diorama and a costume for Dash that includes specific adaptations for the habitat. Students will then write a program for Dash demonstrating adaptations that Dash needs for a specific habitat.
Objectives
- Define habitat and adaptations
- Identify a variety of habitats and the characteristics that define them
- Create a coding sequence that demonstrates Dash’s behavior in the assigned habitat
- Design an assigned habitat in a shoe-box diorama
- Design a costume that includes specific adaptations that would allow Dash to thrive in the assigned habitat
Lesson Procedure
- Class 1: Creating an Adaptation (60 minutes)
- Class 2 & 3: Programming an Adaptation (30 minutes)
- Class 4 & 5: Habitat Dioramas (30 minutes)
