Driving School Dot (Gr. 3-5)
Description
Dot seriously needs to learn to drive. Do you think you can teach Dot to drive safely around the neighborhood?
Objectives
-
Start - students will learn that the Start block may be used to initiate a program.

Sound - students will learn how a Sounds block can be used to add pre-programmed sound.

When - students will learn that the When block executes when a specified event occurs, e.g., When Dot's top button is pushed.

Add to a program - students will learn how to drag and drop blocks to add them to a program.
Lesson Procedure
In this introductory puzzle, students will learn the basics of programming while solving a series of 5 incremental puzzles, beginning with the Start block, students will move onto learn how to add to a program using pre-programmed sounds from the My sounds menu. Students will also learn to edit a sound block, changing what Dot has to say, from "Hi!" to "Wee!" The program ends with Dot successfully earning a license to drive!
